About Me

Bharatanatyam dancer . Singapore .

Dance to me, is not just physical movement. It is a language to communicate, a channel to express myself. An expression that sees no distinction of gender or background. One where I can be anyone or anywhere. Giving me perspectives I can learn for life. Dance embraces me for who I am, flaws and strengths. It teaches me patience, optimism and that my limitations are where I set them to be. This journey constantly reminds me that opportunities are abundant; I just have to search within.

Completing my Bachelor of Arts in Communication provided me with a different lens to view life from. I began to see the power of communication in dance and arts. The why behind every movement of a dancer, if thought of with intention, can transport the audience into another world – perhaps even the same one the dancer is in. It is all, in the deliberate delivery of the dancer. Through the years of watching and advice from experienced artists, I am beginning to understand the importance of constant learning. Taking advise from my grandmother, Shrimathi Kamakshi Jayaraman, I have embarked on a journey of continued study, and am currently pursuing my Masters in Fine Arts Bharatanatyam.

As a a tiny drop in the ocean of dance and the arts, I hope to discover my place, and the ways I can help improve the lives of others through my dance, and the arts.

“Art, Just for the love of it”

Keeping that in my heart, I hope discover my role in serving humanity, through the arts.

Is the stage our world, or is the world our stage?
I prefer the latter – the world where every movement, moment and breath of mine, is dance, music and love.
